xChange container insurance against total loss and damage

Our container insurance aims at reducing risk and liability when doing one-ways on xChange and offers comprehensive coverage for (actual) total loss, constructive total loss, general average and mysterious disappearance. Container insurance can be added to any deal and will be billed monthly in the users’ xChange wallet.

What is insured? Comprehensive coverage for container equipment on a global one-way move. Note that exclusions apply (including but not limited to e.g., insolvency of the lessee).

+ new impact damages starting from a deductible of USD 50. Total Loss is declared if the repairs are equal or higher than the DRV.

How much does it cost? From 2,50 USD up to 4,10 USD per container for 60 days, depending on container type
  • From 12 USD to 140 USD per container for first 60 days, depending on container type
  • 60+ days on a daily rate between 0,21 USD up to 3 USD *Depending on container type
How long are my containers insured?
  • 60 days from pick up date
  • Gets automatically renewed by 60 days if equipment is not returned within insurance term (60 days)
  • 60 days from pick up date
  • Gets automatically renewed on a daily rate if the equipment is not returned within the insurance term (60 days)
What replacement values are covered by the insurance? From 2.150 USD up to 23.250 USD per container From 2.150 USD up to 23.250 USD per container
Who pays the insurance fee? The container user always pays the container insurance fee.
What are the insurance billing terms? The costs will be billed monthly.

Claiming a total loss happens within the particular request or by reaching out to service@container-xchange.com, a surveyor will then be tasked with assessing the damage and accepting the claim. The users and his agents have to search for the missing container for 2 months. After 2 months, our appointed surveyor has to search for the missing container for 1 month. After this period a container is considered as lost and has to be paid by underwriters after deduction of a 25% deductible any container for Mysterious Disappearance.
