This year’s Digital Container Summit will be an online event. Giving you an opportunity for 1-on-1 networking as well as livestream keynotes and workshops by industry leaders with interactive Q&A.
Last year we hosted our first Digital Container Summit in Hamburg, Germany with more than 150 attendees, who were mostly members of our platform on xChange.
We, of course, wanted to repeat the success. This year’s Digital Container Summit will take place virtually on September 3rd, 2020. With 1-on-1 networking, keynotes by industry leaders, and workshops for digital skills enhancement. The summit will also be open for the entire industry to participate.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the year hasn’t exactly progressed as we imagined. And the way the summit has been shaped also reflects the current worldwide situation.
To begin with, industry events were postponed. Now in late May, we’re seeing most events simply cancelled for the year. So, when it came time to decide whether to cancel or postpone our flagship summit in September, we decided to virtualize it instead.
By now we understand that international travel will continue to be disrupted well into 2021. We have, therefore, looked into nearly every online event platform. And we have just opened for the sale of tickets with the same enthusiasm we had going into 2020.
Like last year, but not quite
Last year, with coffee in hand, the participants enjoyed a wonderful scenic view of the lovely port city of Hamburg. The weather graced us with only an hour or 2 of the infamous Hamburg rain.
With the Digital Container Summit this year being an online event we won’t be offering steamy coffee or the same spectacular view. They weren’t the reasons for the event’s success, however. Nor was it the free food and drinks leading into the late-night afterparty. Though these were definitely plus sides.
We also cannot replace the ambiance of a physical summit. The spontaneous conversations with strangers who actually end up the business partner you hoped you’d find.
However, that doesn’t mean that we won’t make sure to give you the opportunity to meet other people in the industry at this year’s Digital Container Summit. We asked ourselves:
How do we make an online event that provides value to the attendees?
We have taken the most important components from last year’s summit and transformed them into a virtual event. The technology is here to provide real value for our industry – we’ve decided to use it.
Network, insights, and workshops
At the online Digital Container Summit, it’s possible to preschedule 1-on-1 networking sessions. This gives the attendees the opportunity to do business and create new partnerships efficiently and productively.
There will also be keynote sessions and virtual workshops by industry leaders. These sessions will be live streamed with an interactive chat, so you still can ask questions on the current topics, that will be debated.
All of these features are open to the entire container logistics industry, making it now the only industrywide networking opportunity possible in 2020.
